I hope your day is as sunny as mine is.☺️So nice here today, but aside from that, this post is about poor Mazzy’s vet visit (She’s okay), and a little (or not…) cake that I made recently in honour of The Great Australian Bake Off… then a knitted stuffed toy I made for a birthday – read on and have fun!🩷
So, the cake! I am very inspired by this show (and the judges Rachel Khoo and Darren Purchese, and I want to do it myself one day, so occasionally I make a special treat from the technical bakes… Darren’s Ultimate Chocolate Cake, from Darren Purchese himself! Firstly, here is the recipe: https://studiokitchen.com.au/recipe/darrens-ultimate-chocolate-cake/ I thought I would practice my skills… I knew it would probably look a little unique, but it wasn’t too bad for an amateur! *Two hours and fifteen minutes and sixteen steps later* The cake was a little flat, I didn’t have all correct size tins, but the icing was nice, and it tasted good! A few mornings ago, Mazzy came out of the cat’s overnight enclosure with one eye shut. When Mum had a look, she had a very sore looking eye – after a trip to the vet, it was discovered that Marigold had uveitis, which is inflammation of the middle layer of the eye, caused by pain and nerve damage and a corneal ulcer, which is where it breaks the surface of the eyelid. She also had damage to the third eyelid. Thankfully, she should be able to still see, and it will heal, but it is definitely sore – she is on pain meds though. She’s being treated very well though, plenty of cuddles on the outside couch and relaxing on the deck.❤️🩹😊
My littlest brother’s birthday was a little while ago, and for it I made him a knitted parrot. I had to knit the body, then a tricky little head and beak attached, then two wings, and if you notice that it has two left wings, that was what the pattern said, I do not know why. It is super cute, and can even perch on a thin stick if you sit it right! The legs were a little tricky, but he loves it! It’s name’s Harry, apparently. He first named it Parry, then decided Harry was better. Actually, as of 20 seconds ago, it’s John, with nickname Harry or Johnt or Johnera… watch this space…. oh and now it’s making squawking noises with Dad’s sunnies on…🤷🏼♀️
