Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! This time has a very sad farewell to my rabbits Mosey and Albus (don’t worry, they’re fine though!), a jumping practice for my upcoming Pony Club C Certificate (Ahhhh! Nervous!) and a few cool mushrooms we have been finding around the place! Have fun!
I had to say a very sad adieu to my little buns Albus and Mosey, due to moving interstate – it won’t work to transport them sadly. Albus is such a charming little gentleman, very sweet, adventurous, and affectionate. He kept us amused whenever he tried to sneak somewhere he wasn’t allowed to go during exercise time, and all I had to say was Aaaalbuuus and he’d run back to your cage! I loved mutual grooming time too! I’m sure he’ll have fun on his new adventure… with a girlfriend this time!🤍 Mosaic, shy yet playful, a mildly destructive little rascal with a love for chewing, digging, eating, and throwing. I am forever in awe of the way he pounces on mountains of grass and moves it from floor to belly with speed and precision! Always loving a playful binky, yet quietly accepting a cheek rub (but only when he wanted one)! He’ll enjoy his new home with a rough and tumble friend! 🖤🤍
It is coming to the end of fungi season, but there have been a whole load of mushrooms around here! I think the proper term is ”Mushroom bloom”. I went around taking photos of some of them, and while my photography skills are rather lacking, here are a few photos! Please let me know in the comments if you know what any of them are! We also have some Horse Dung Fungus here, but they’re really out the back of this place, so I do not have time this week!
Mackenzie and I had an outing to a local showjumping course the other day, because we needed a practice before we go for C Certs. It is a Pony Club grade, from E, D, D star, C, C star or K, B, and A. C means a lot of Pony Club competitions and opportunities are available, so off we went. Neither she nor I are super experienced, so I kinda have to teach her something I’m not great at, but we have had a few lessons, and are improving. Mackenzie loves to go fast, and we did some poles on the ground to start. We had changed her bit too, because the other (gentler) bit pinched, and it went well. She has a very soft and responsive mouth, so I only put her in a mild bit. Now I have thoroughly bored you talking about bits, I will refocus. Mackenzie used to not have very good tighter turning, and she does rush a little (I think she’s half Arabian), so we did an exercise where we trotted to a pole, then halted after it if she quickened. Now she turns very well and is definitely better at slowing down, she learns quickly! We do need to work on my timing to 2 point and crest release (come forward over the jumps and move my hands forward), holding the mane, and staying straight in the doubles and related lines, but all in all quite good! By the end got to about 65cm (2.1 ft, 25.6 in), jumping doubles (2 jumps set 1 – 2 strides apart), and turning very well. Mackenzie can really be a little superstar… when she wants to be!
